Pure Block Management is delighted to announce the appointment of a new dedicated Compliance Manager following a recent period of growth.
George Baker, who has previously worked in the industry for a Manchester-based specialist, has been appointed to oversee compliance issues, ensuring the company’s dedicated block managers have more time to spend on services to clients.
It comes as we now manage more than 150 residential estates and apartment blocks across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire area, recently opening a new office in York as we continue to grow our portfolio across North Yorkshire.
‘Number one priority’
“Compliance is the number one priority in residential block management,” said Liam Parker, Director of Pure Block Management.
“It is what keeps property owners on the right side of ever-changing and updating legislation, keeps buildings maintained to the highest standards, and ultimately ensures residents are living in a comfortable and safe environment.
“As a business we have grown significantly over the past 12 months, and we now manage properties over a larger geographical area, which is why we opened our York office last year and appointed Laura Street as an Associate Director.
“It was apparent that, given the significant legislation requirements in the sector, and the growth of our port-folio, we needed an experienced, dedicated Compliance Manager to oversee all aspects of insurance, risk assessments, safety checks and accessibility requirements across our developments.
“George’s appointment will ensure we enhance our commitment to compliance as we grow, meaning our individual block managers can focus on other key areas, such as ensuring they communicate well with all stakeholders and take care of every aspect of management such as ensuring an effective budget, service charge and rent management for owners, and a safe, secure and pleasant environment for residents.”
‘Great opportunity’
Mr Baker, who joins having spent five-and-a-half years with a Manchester-based block management business in roles covering compliance to maintenance, says he is delighted to join Pure Block Management after moving to Yorkshire last year.
“This is a great opportunity for me. I was impressed by Pure Block Management’s reputation in the industry and the many positive reviews coming from clients and residents,” he said.
“Having moved to Yorkshire I learned more about the business and of course discovered it is part of Garness Group, which is such a long-established and well respected business in the property sector.
“Compliance is so important, and although I’ve always worked at businesses which have made it a priority, it can be overlooked by some in the industry when they become too busy in the day to day job, or perhaps cut corners.
“That is not good for anybody involved in a residential property, be it an owner, leaseholder or occupier.
“I think there is much more awareness now of why compliance is so important, ever since the Grenfell Tower disaster a few years ago. People want to know that where they are living is well cared-for, maintained and safe, and if you are not being reassured of that where you live, you should start to ask questions.”
